Description

Royal Jacquard, these luxurious cashmere scarves from Carina Cashmere, are produced using the most elaborate handcrafting techniques. In order to create flowers and other patterns, the individual warp threads must be lifted at the right moment using punch cards. This art was developed in 1805 by Jean -Marie Jacquard. Napoleon Bonaparte was probably one of the best-known early adopters of this then new technology. With digitization, this impressive manual technique was largely replaced by machines. For commercial use, this technique is now only used by very few factories worldwide and only mastered by very few weavers; it is considered to be “threatened with extinction”. Each of the 4200 warp threads has to be additionally threaded into a punch card, which lifts the threads at the right moment. A scarf like this takes several days to weave. Each of these scarves is unique and a real work of art! By buying a scarf, you are also making a valuable contribution to preserving old and traditional craftsmanship.

Material & Pflege

Care instructions for our cashmere and merino products

We always recommend hand washing our cashmere and merino products.
If you wish to use the washing machine, please ensure that the wool wash program is set to a maximum of 30°C and a low spin setting.
Ideally, use a special detergent for natural fibers. Alternatively, you can also use a mild shampoo, which is gentler than conventional detergent.
After washing, gently squeeze out the cashmere product, do not wring it out, and then leave to air dry flat on a towel.
Never tumble dry the product or expose it to direct sunlight to preserve the quality of the fibers.
