A scarf from cashmere

a touch of luxury

Cashmere is the most valuable textile of all. The noble material, however, only gives real pleasure when you know for sure that it was produced under fair conditions and the quality is superb.

Carina Cashmere guarantees genuine cashmere, from fair and sustainable production. We have our cashmere regularly tested and certified for its quality. In order to be able to guarantee our customers fair production, we visit the factories in Nepal several times a year. We love Nepal and support the country with various aid projects.

Kaschmir Produktion in Nepal

Fair cashmere production

Sustainability and fair working conditions are more important than ever. And that is what we are committed to every day. With our local business partners, we have found people to whom our standards are just as important as they are to us. Only when everyone, from the farmer to the weaver to the retailer, benefits from the value chain, only then can a unique product with history and love be created.

100% cashmere

Fibers with a diameter of 19 micro or less may be designated as cashmere. Compare this to a human hair; this is about 50 to 70 micro fine! Thanks to their crimp - crimping the hair creates small cavities in which the air can be trapped. As a result, they give off a warmth that can not be matched! Another quality feature is the length of the individual fibers. The longer it is, the less risk there is of individual hairs in the tissue coming loose and causing itching. Since the cashmere fiber is not flaky and does not contain lanolin, it is the only wool that even people allergic to wool can wear.

Carina Cashmere Hilfsprojekte in Nepal

Aid projects

Our aid projects in Nepal Dimil, the farthest hamlet of the Tapting Valley, is over 12 hours by car from Kathmandu. Then you hike up for 3 days until you get to one of the most remote villages anywhere. This is where our elementary school is located. Visits there are deeply moving, it is nice when help arrives in such an uncomplicated way and has such an enormous effect.

Felt production with heart in Nepal

Just like our cashmere producer, we met our felt producer Madhav on one of our Nepal trips. His loving designs thrilled us and make every child’s heart beat faster.

Madhav started his felt manufactory when he was barely 20 years old, together with his wife and sister. The goal of Filz Manufaktur is to provide young mothers with a safe, clean and fair workplace. Because in Kathmandu, Nepal, this is unfortunately not yet a matter of course.

For us it was clear: We want to support this project!

So, in addition to cashmere, we began to import and sell felt. We visit Madhav in Nepal at regular intervals and see the production conditions for ourselves on site.
